It has been the honor of my career to support the San Francisco African American Reparations Advisory Committee (AARAC)— the first citizen Advisory Committee in the United States established by legislation to develop a reparations plan for a local government. In my role at the Human Rights Commission, I served as the Committee Secretary from its first meeting in June 2021 through August 2022. I used my expertise in city planning to center the context and framing of the AARAC’s inquiries around the state- and local-driven policy injustices that displaced Black residents from the City and County of San Francisco during the period known as ‘Urban Renewal,’ and used my background in racial and economic justice to support the AARAC’s four subcommittees— Education, Health, Economic Empowerment and Policy— with research and technical assistance.

My contributions to the AARAC include:

SURVEY DEVELOPMENT

VISUAL IDENTITY

RESEARCH + PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

IDENTIFYING POLICY PRIORITIES

OUTREACH + COMMUNICATIONS

COMMUNITY LISTENING SESSION DESIGN + FACILITATION

REPORT WRITING + PLAN DEVELOPMENT
